The LMU research team recently visited St. Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College (SPHMMC) to continue building collaboration with the local partners and to support preparations for the upcoming study. Meetings at the medical college provided an opportunity for both teams to exchange ideas, discuss study procedures, and align expectations for the project.

During the visit to the affiliated teaching hospital, the LMU team toured several wards that could potentially take part in the study. Observing the daily clinical environment and hygiene practices helped the teams discuss practical considerations for implementing potential interventions. The visit also included a tour of the IDReaM Lab (Infectious Disease Research and Molecular Lab) and the Centre for Innovative Drug Development and Therapeutic Trials for Africa (CDT-Africa), where the team gained insight into the available diagnostic infrastructure for microbial detection and drug monitoring, both of which will contribute to the successful conduct of the study.
